To succeed, you gotta be having some...

“People rarely succeed, unless they have fun in what they are doing.”  Dale Carnegie

Haven’t we all dreamt of doing something we really enjoy?  We’ve been on long training rides dreaming that we could this everyday.  We watch Ernie Els, thinking that he has a dream job.

Motivating Employees: Understanding Mind Management Part 3 of 6

Your mind can only hold on thought at a time.

Whenever I broach this subject in my seminars, females in the audience always challenge me.  They are under the impression – along with most other people – that we can all multi-task.

Discipline and concentration are a matter of being interested.

Have you ever sat through a boring movie?  (When it’s your better half’s birthday and they chose the movie it doesn’t count.)  When you are not “into” something, when it doesn’t hold you in awe, it’s difficult to concentrate on it.

Your mind will move your body in the direction of your dominant thought.

Your mind will find a way to move your body in the direction of your thinking, in the direction of your focus.

You win some, you lose some...

“You win some, you lose some, you wreck some.”  Dale Earnhardt

Simple formula for goal-setting.

“Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality.”  Ralph Marston
The reason I believe so many adults fail to convert the majority of their goals into reality is that they succumb to their doubts.  Our kids set goals.  You did when you were a kid – and you realized a high percentage of them.  Much higher than you do now.

What do employees want in 2010?

Any CEO, MD and Manager worth their salt should be asking themselves this right now as they’re involved in strategy workshops and planning for the near future.

If you’re a South African company, the short answer is 4 weeks paid leave from 11 June to 11 July to enjoy the Fifa 2010 World Cup.

Jokes aside though. Two recent articles highlight the plight of the employee in 2010 as the world comes out of recession and begins its bounce-back. We hope!! But then again I bumped into an industry colleague at a coffee shop this week and he reckons the recession was just a perception!

Go figure!
